EfCCNa welcomes a new Member association, the Israeli Society of Cardiac and Intensive Care Nursing.
Dear EfCCNa,
Thank you so much for including us, the Israeli Intensive Care nurses into your welcoming arms and warm hearts!
We are a country of 7.5 million people with a total of 4.4 registered nurses per 1000 of which 3745 have completed a 9 month post graduate course in intensive care nursing. This course is summated with a national test given once a year. The post graduate course curriculum and final exam is developed by the nurses in the society.
The Israeli Society for Cardiac and Intensive nurses is a professional group encompassing many fields of intensive care; cardiac , cardio-thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, pediatric, post anesthesia, and general intensive care. The society has 2 national congresses a year in collaboration with the Physicians Anesthesia care conference and another with the Cardiology Association. There are 2 full days of thematic and abstracts sessions organized and planned by the nursing society of intensive care. In addition, there is another nursing conference day hosted by different hospitals each year. The hosting nurses organize the day focusing on the specialties of the nursing care in that hospital. The Israeli ICU nursing society meets once a year to discuss education, and professional development areas, updating the post graduate national ICU course content, and standardization of care and general issues.
In addition, the societies active members have developed a specialty branch calling themselves, the Evidenced based ICU Nursing group. This group meets once a month with the objective of investigating nursing procedures that need to be refreshed and explored. Recently, we have finalized a Meta analysis of oral care for the mechanically ventilated patient, nurse driven protocol for ventilation weaning, nurse driven protocol for pain relief, national guidelines and recommendations for taking patients out of bed, and a national study on moral distress and structural empowerment. Our project for this year will be a national observational study on procedural pain during nursing interventions.
We hope to be enriched by our association and collaboration with the European federation of critical care nurses as we hope you will be with us. Let us wish for peace.
The Israeli Society of Caridac and Intensive Care Nursing.
