Declaration on EU Workforce for Health

Written by Heike Strunk Wednesday, 28 July 2010 07:26

EU Workforce for Health (VERY IMPO Dear EfCCNa Colleagues and Friends,

This is indeed an important information that I found. Please, lobby for EfCCNa and get your Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to sign this document successfully tabled by five MEPs - Oana Elena Antonescu MEP (Romania, EPP), Jean Lambert MEP (UK, Greens/EFA), Antonyia Parvanova MEP (Bulgaria, ALDE), Marc Tarabella MEP (Belgium, S&D) and Thomas Ulmer MEP (Germany, EPP).

- ensure that there is sufficient comparable data for EU wide health workforce planning,
- establish effective and sustainable recruitment and retention strategies in the health sector,
- ensure that all health professionals have access to continuing professional development and that professional qualifications meet agreed criteria,
- promote the role of health professionals to identify and implement strategies that facilitate professional and knowledge mobility while recognising - the health professionals’ contribution to achieving optimal health outcomes.

Excerpt from the EFN Website: A total number of 369 signatures are needed for the text to be adopted. As many declarations are being promoted currently, the EFN needs to make the difference. Thus, the EFN members will play a crucial role in promoting the declaration next to their MEPs, before the next plenary session on 6-9 September 2010, as the Declaration are signed at that moment. Deadline for MEPs to sign the Declaration: 17 September 2010

Newly elected EfCCNa Board April 2008

Written by Administrator Monday, 05 May 2008 21:46

On Sunday 27th of April, at the 21st Council meeting of the European Federation of Critical Care Nurses, held in Florence, Italy, a new Board of officers was elected. The newly elected president, Rosa Thorsteinsdóttir has been the Federation's vice-president for the past three years and takes over from Wouter De Graaf. Mr De Graaf's vision and leadership enabled the Federation to progress and achieve a number of objectives. These include establishing a number of sub-committees that are addressing a number of important issues on both professional and clinical practice, building alliances with other key groups such as the European Specialist Nurses' Organisation and increasing the profile and reputation of EfCCNa within European Commission and beyond. Wouter de Graaf will continue to be involved with EfCCNa as an advisor and facilitator.
